Final Preparations

Our latest blog is courtesy of Chief Operating Officer Roya Ghazinouri:

Our team of coordinators arrived in the DR this week. We have spent the past few days renewing our bond with our Dominican hosts, organizing our cargo room and doing a final review of all our patients.

This year, our team of Boston volunteers will be working with 57 Dominican volunteer students who have been working for months to prepare for this trip.  Today we had the honor of meeting and hearing from them about what inspires them to be a part of Op Walk.  The theme of the meeting was an immense love for helping patients, a passion for serving their people and an intense desire to learn from our team. They are eager, energetic, kind and full of passion for life, their patients and profession.

Every year, I am humbled by the generosity of our host institution, by the compassion and care that we receive every minute of the day.  As I quietly reflect on the week ahead, I can't help but feel proud of the work our Boston and Dominican teams.

Debbie and Paul with Andrea, Head Volunteer.
